We are indeed making a map that encompasses Germany.  But we will finish this map first and then continue to work on the next one(s)

<drool> Rgrt !

I cannot wait ... but I have an inkling this channel map will keep us all plenty occupied in the meantime !!

Again .. fantastic work !
Can't wait to do some cross channel sorties.

Hello guys!

Probably you are all fed-up with congratulations from all over the IL2 community but i couldn't resist...  Roll Eyes Grin
So accept my gratitude for your amazing effort you've put into this awesome and huge map, Smiley All the IL2 community is longing for this jewel and i couldn't be an exception,  Wink

One thing that i would like to ask about this map. How will a mid-range machine respond to this  big and very detailed map? Will it be playable?
I don't know any details but i think that it depends from the size of the .TGA files. If they are big, >1 MB that map will perform good in high-end PCs, if they are <512 KB the older machines will be happy also. As far as i know the .TGA files can be reduced if they degraded to a lower "color-range".
I've read that if someone uses a good conversion program the quality loss is so minimal that you can hardly tell the difference. But maybe you have already built 2 versions of this map, one with big .TGA files and one with smaller .TGA files....

I am not in position to tell you anything at all about your exceptional and hard work, I'm not ungrateful. I'm just trying to feed my curiosity,   Roll Eyes

Again, thank you for your amazing effort,

Best regards,

I/ZG52_HaDeS

Can you run "The Slot" satisfactorily?  If the answer is "Yes" then you should have no problem with our map.  Of course, not every system, nor every user can be anticipated.  I don't envisage us creating 2 seperate versions tailored to high and/or low capability systems.

Yes, but my PC has 4 GB DDR3 memory and a Geforce 8800. I've asked you this not from a single-user perspective. I'm thinking feature on-line campaigns based on your marvelous map. I know that it will be super playable in single-player missions, but in an coop event with >14 players how will it perform? Will it be stable? I know its quite early to have such thoughts, but as i said, my curiosity pushed me to ask you this.

Best regards,

S!

Well, I've run it on my DF Server with 26 players - no problems - will that do?  Of course, it always depends on the power of the server and the network bandwidth available.  I'm quite sure I could host 60 if needed.

 Shocked

Marvelous,  Smiley

Well, in such case it will be probably the best map ever made for on-line campaigns!

But now i am more impatience for the release,  Grin Grin Cool

Best regards !

That's my plan - 24/7, daytime and nighttime operations all on "one and only one" map.  We'll be using FBDj and we are looking forward to it very much.

I have been watching this forum in anticipation of this awesome map.  I don't know the "hows" of what you need to do to create it, though I'd like to one day, but I can only imagine the scope of work involved in this.  My hats off to all of you involved.  Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this.  This map is incredible!!!!

Sniper thanks for the kind words and welcome to our forums.   Grin

Creating a map can be a big endeavor depending upon the  area involved.  The 2 most important factors in map building that you must have are a great team and a very understanding and patient wife.  The rest you can learn as you go.
